Brant Alyea Autographs
Brant Alyea is a former American professional baseball player who spent six years in the major leagues. He was born on July 27, 1940, and grew up in Spokane, Washington. Alyea attended Washington State University, where he played baseball, football, and basketball. Despite excelling in all three sports, Alyea chose baseball as his profession and signed with the Minnesota Twins in 1961.
Alyea spent his first two seasons in the minor leagues before making his major league debut with the Twins in 1965. He played primarily as an outfielder and designated hitter and quickly established himself as a competent hitter. In 1968, Alyea enjoyed his best season in the big leagues, batting .291 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs in 105 games. He helped the Twins reach the World Series that year, where they lost to the Detroit Tigers in seven games. Alyea's performance in the Fall Classic was disappointing, as he went hitless in just six at-bats.
Despite having a promising career ahead of him, Alyea's form dipped after the 1968 season, and he was traded to the Washington Senators in 1970. He played for two more seasons with the Senators before being traded again to the Texas Rangers in 1972. Alyea's career in Texas was brief, and he was released midway through the season. He ended his playing career after a short stint with the Montreal Expos in 1973. In total, Brant Alyea played in 535 games in the majors, accumulating a batting average of .247 with 34 home runs and 160 RBIs. Despite his relatively short career, Alyea's contribution to baseball remains significant, and his performances on the diamond are fondly remembered by fans and admirers of the sport.
