Brian Bannister Autographs
Brian Bannister was born on February 28, 1981, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bannister played college baseball at the University of Southern California (USC) and was drafted by the New York Mets in the seventh round of the 2003 Major League Baseball draft. Brian worked his way up through the Minor League system and eventually made his MLB debut on April 5, 2006, for the Mets. Bannister played for the Mets for two seasons before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in 2007.
Bannister had a breakout year in 2007, where he went 12-9 with a 3.87 ERA for the Royals. He was named the American League Rookie Pitcher of the Year and finished fifth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. His outstanding performance led to him being named the Royals' Pitcher of the Year. He followed that up with another solid season in 2008, going 9-16 with a 5.76 ERA. However, Bannister struggled with injuries, and his performance declined in 2009, ultimately leading to his retirement from baseball in January 2011.
After his playing career ended, Bannister transitioned into coaching and currently serves as the Vice President of Pitching Development for the Boston Red Sox. Since joining the Red Sox in 2015, Bannister has worked with the team's minor league pitchers, helping to develop talent and improve the team's overall pitching staff. Brian's career in baseball highlights his skills as a pitcher, dedication to the sport, and his knowledge of the game, which has helped him to be a valuable asset to the Red Sox organization.
