Fuentes's career took off when he joined the Colorado Rockies in 2002. As a left-handed relief pitcher, he was an essential part of the Rockies bullpen, and his performance was critical in helping his team reach the World Series in 2007. Fuentes was named to the All-Star team for the first time in his career in 2005, and again in 2006, and he won the Delivery Man of the Year Award in 2009, recognizing him as the premier relief pitcher of the season. Over his baseball career, he amassed 204 saves, 851 strikeouts, and 3.62 ERA in 644 innings pitched.

In 2013, Fuentes announced his retirement from baseball, and since then, he remains active in the sport by coaching high school baseball. He has also been involved in philanthropy work, and his Brian Fuentes Foundation supports youth sports in his hometown, Merced. Brian Fuentes had a successful career in professional baseball, and his contributions to the teams he played for were invaluable.
