Brian Kingman Autographs
Brian Kingman was born on July 27, 1954, in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of Southern California and was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 1976. The left-handed pitcher made his Major League debut with the team in May 1979 and spent three seasons in Oakland.
Kingman's best season was 1980, when he posted a 8-7 record with a 3.83 ERA in 32 games. He led the American League in losses that season with 20, becoming the second pitcher in MLB history to lose 20 games in a year since 1930. Despite leading the league in losses, Kingman's performance earned him votes for the Cy Young Award and was named the team's MVP.
Kingman played his last season with the San Francisco Giants in 1984 before ending his career with a 22-35 record and a 4.13 ERA. After retiring from baseball, Kingman worked as a motivational speaker and became an advocate for athletes struggling with addiction. He later launched a successful business career as a commodities trader, earning a substantial fortune. Despite losing 20 games in a season, Kingman's perseverance on and off the field earned him a place in the record books and a successful post-baseball career.
