Bubba Church Autographs
Bubba Church was an American professional baseball player, born on September 12, 1924, in Birmingham, Alabama. He began his baseball career in 1943 with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he played as a pitcher. Church's best years were with the Phillies, where he won 70 games in six seasons. He was an excellent fielder and a good hitter, with a career batting average of .199.
In 1951, Church was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, where his performance declined. He was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, but he played sparingly, pitching in only 14 games, and finishing the season with a record of 0-3. Church's baseball career ended with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1955. In total, he had a career record of 83-80, with an ERA of 3.82.
After his baseball career, Bubba Church worked as a salesman for several companies before retiring to his hometown, Birmingham. He remained active in baseball, serving as a coach and umpire at local Little League and high school games. Church passed away on August 17, 2001, leaving behind a legacy as a good player, a hard worker, and a kind person who always had time for young players. He will always be remembered as one of the best pitchers in Phillies' history.
