Smith spent the next three years in the minor leagues, developing his skills as a pitcher. He made his MLB debut on April 6, 2001, pitching for the Cardinals against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In September of the same year, he threw the 20th no-hitter in Cardinals history against the San Diego Padres. Unfortunately, his career was plagued by injuries, and he was forced to retire in 2007 at the young age of 27.

Throughout his career, Smith was known for his ability to throw a great fastball and his poise on the mound. He was a fan favorite not only for his skills on the field but also his humble attitude and dedication to the sport. Despite his injuries and short MLB career, Bud Smith will always be remembered as one of the most talented pitchers of his time. Read even more about Bud Smith at Wikipedia
