Bud Thomas Autographs
Bud Thomas was an American baseball player who played primarily as a center fielder during his professional career. Born on August 6, 1916, in Morrisonville, Illinois, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1937. Thomas started his career as an outfielder and played for several minor league teams before being promoted to the major leagues. His first major league game was on September 9, 1941, for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Cincinnati Reds.
During his baseball career, Thomas played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators, St. Louis Browns, and the Detroit Tigers. In his first season as a major league player, Thomas played 22 games and recorded a batting average of .306. In 1945, his best season, he played for the St. Louis Browns and recorded a batting average of .331 with one home run and 57 RBI. During his career, he had a career batting average of .279.
Apart from his baseball career, Thomas also served in the United States Army during World War II. After retiring from baseball, he worked in the automobile industry in Detroit. Bud Thomas passed away on June 7, 2009, at the age of 92. He was remembered as a great baseball player who had a successful career as an outfielder and was known for his speed and defensive abilities.
