Buzz Capra Autographs
Buzz Capra is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Atlanta Braves from 1971 to 1976. Born on October 1, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Capra was a standout baseball player at Glenbard East High School before being drafted by the Braves in 1966. He spent four years in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 1971, where he quickly became known for his unusual delivery and ability to throw a sharp-breaking slider.
Capra's best season with the Braves came in 1974 when he posted a 16-8 record with a 2.28 ERA and 151 strikeouts. He was also named an All-Star that year and finished fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting. Despite his success, injuries plagued Capra throughout his career, and he retired from baseball in 1977 at the age of 29 due to arm troubles.
After his playing career, Capra remained involved in baseball as a coach and scout. He worked as a pitching coach for various minor league teams and served as a scout for the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets. Capra's contributions to the Braves organization were recognized in 2011 when he was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame. Today, he remains an active member of the baseball community and is considered a valuable resource for young players looking to improve their skills.
