Cal Abrams was an American professional baseball player who was born on March 2, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a right fielder and center fielder who played in the Major League Baseball for 10 seasons between 1949 and 1956, and then from 1958 to 1966. Cal Abrams initially signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1946 after playing at the University of Alabama, and he made his major league debut with them in 1949. Throughout his baseball career, he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Cincinnati Redlegs, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, and San Francisco Giants. More about Cal Abrams

Abrams was known as a speedy player who could run down most balls hit to the outfield. He was a good hitter, but his speed on the basepaths was his biggest asset. He was a consistent performer during his eight seasons with the Brooklyn Dodgers, where he hit over .300 in three of those seasons. He also led the National League in stolen bases during the 1954 season, with a career-high of 22.
