Gaudin's professional baseball career began in 2003 when the Tampa Bay Devil Rays drafted him in the 34th round. He played for the Devil Rays from 2003 to 2004 before moving on to pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005. After that, he played for nine more teams, including the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and Chicago Cubs. Gaudin's best MLB season was arguably in 2007 when he led the Oakland Athletics in strikeouts, innings pitched, and appearances.
