Chris Truby was born on December 9, 1973, in Palm Springs, California. He attended high school in Mission Viejo before playing baseball for Loyola Marymount University. Truby quickly advanced through the Astros’ minor league system and made his Major League debut on July 9, 2000. He played primarily at third base and appeared in 68 games during his rookie season. Truby hit .240 with six home runs and posted a .309 on-base percentage. He continued to play for the Astros for two more seasons before being traded to the Montreal Expos in 2002. Truby played for several other teams over the next few years, including the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Houston Astros again, and the Detroit Tigers.

Throughout his career, Truby was known for his strong defensive skills and his power at the plate. He hit a career-high 19 home runs in 2002 and earned the nickname “Tru-bomb” for his ability to hit long balls. Truby retired from professional baseball in 2005 with a career batting average of .231, 39 home runs, and 154 RBIs.
