Chris Widger Autographs
Chris Widger is a retired American professional baseball catcher who played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for over a decade. Widger was born on May 21, 1971, in Wilmington, Delaware, and grew up in a family of baseball enthusiasts. His father, Harry, was an assistant coach at Delaware State University, and he nurtured his son's interest in baseball from a young age.
Widger was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 1992 MLB Draft, and he made his debut in 1995. He played for several teams over the course of his career, including the Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Chicago White Sox. He won a World Series championship in 2005 with the White Sox, playing a key role in the team's success.
Widger was known for his excellent defense behind the plate, as well as his solid hitting. He appeared in over 800 games during his career, posting a .238 batting average, 55 home runs, and 222 RBI. After retiring from baseball in 2007, Widger became a coach, working with several minor league teams and eventually serving as the bench coach for the Charlotte Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox. Widger's legacy as a hardworking and dependable catcher has earned him a place in baseball history.
