Clete Boyer Autographs
Clete Boyer was a former American professional baseball player who played as a third baseman. Born on February 9, 1937, in Cassville, Missouri, Boyer started his professional baseball career in 1955 when he was signed by the Kansas City Athletics. He played for several teams during his fourteen-year career, including the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, and the Chicago White Sox. Boyer was known for his defensive skills, especially his ability to make difficult plays look easy.
Boyer made his debut in the Major League Baseball (MLB) in 1955 with the Kansas City Athletics but was later traded to the New York Yankees in 1959. With the Yankees, he played a significant role in their success, which included four World Series Championships from 1961 to 1964. In the 1964 World Series, Boyer played a vital role in the Yankees’ victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. He hit a game-winning home run in Game 7 to secure the win for the Yankees. Boyer was also known for his strong throwing arm, and he led the American League in assists three times.
After retiring from baseball in 1971, Boyer became a coach and manager in the minor leagues. He was also a coach for the Kansas City Royals, the Oakland Athletics, and the Atlanta Braves. In 1984, Boyer was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. He passed away on June 4, 2007, in Atlanta, Georgia. Boyer was a talented athlete and a respected figure in baseball, and his contributions to the sport will not be forgotten.
