Clyde Wright Autographs
Clyde Wright was a left-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1965 to 1975. Wright was born on February 20, 1941, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He started his baseball career in college at Carson–Newman University, where he was a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball. Wright was a talented pitcher and was selected by the Angels in the seventh round (128th overall) of the 1965 Major League Baseball Draft.
Wright’s professional baseball career started at the age of 24 when he joined the Los Angeles Angels in 1966. He established himself as one of the team's best pitchers and won 22 games in 1970, which is still a franchise record. Wright was known for his curveball and control, posting an impressive 1.6 walks per nine innings in his career. He pitched for the Angels until 1973 before being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. After just one season in Milwaukee, he was traded to the Texas Rangers, where he played for his final two seasons before retiring in 1975, with a career record of 100-111 and a 3.50 ERA.
After his baseball career, Wright returned to Tennessee, where he became a successful real estate agent. In 2010, Wright was inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame. He now resides in Knoxville with his wife and enjoys playing golf in his free time. Clyde Wright was an excellent left-handed pitcher who left a lasting impact on the Angels franchise. His talent and control made him a valuable asset to any team, and his career achievements are a testament to his impressive skills on the mound.
