Born on May 7, 1982, in Austin, Texas, Jackson pursued his passion for baseball at the University of California, Berkeley, where he played for the California Golden Bears baseball team. Jackson made his Major League Baseball debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks in August 2005, where he played for his first six seasons. He was a steady contributor for the Diamondbacks, averaging .286 with 57 doubles and 15 home runs in 2007 and .300 with 75 RBIs in 2008. In January 2010, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics, where he finished his baseball career after two seasons. Despite battling illnesses that limited his playing time, Jackson still managed to play well in his two seasons with the Athletics, complementing his excellent defense with a .316 on-base percentage.

After retiring from baseball in 2012, Jackson began working as a professional scout for the Chicago Cubs. He retired with a career batting average of .271, with 52 home runs and 301 RBIs. Despite experiencing setbacks with his health throughout his baseball career, Jackson remains a formidable player who will be remembered by fans and fellow players alike for his talent and perseverance in the game.
