Craig Swan was a professional baseball player from California who excelled as a right-handed pitcher. He was born on November 30, 1950, in Van Nuys and attended the University of Arizona where he played college baseball. Swan played eight seasons in Major League Baseball between 1973 and 1984. He started his career with the New York Mets and played with them till 1980. Swan had his best season in 1978, where he went 9-6 with a 2.43 ERA in 176 innings of work. After leaving the Mets, Swan's last seasons were spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he retired in 1984. During his career, Swan made 238 appearances, pitched 1492.2 innings, and notched a 59-72 record with an ERA of 3.74. He struck out 706 hitters and also had an impressive 3 shutouts to his name. Though he never won a World Series, Craig Swan still managed to leave a lasting impact on fans, with his exceptional performances and contributions to the game.

Swan returned to the University of Arizona, where he served as a coach, helping young aspiring baseball players realize their dreams. He would receive a 'Pride of Arizona' recognition in 2006 by the University of Arizona Athletics Hall of Fame, for his contribution to the sport.
