Curt Gowdy was an American sportscaster who made significant contributions to the world of baseball. Born on July 31, 1919, in Green River, Wyoming, Gowdy became fond of sports at an early age. He later moved on to Omaha, Nebraska, where he began his career in broadcasting. Gowdy’s career kicked off in the 1940s when he became a play-by-play announcer for the minor league Omaha Cardinals team. Gowdy later became a broadcaster for the Major League Baseball team, Boston Red Sox, in the early 1950s. Besides, he also served as the broadcaster for the American Football League and the National Football League.
