Dale Berra Autographs
Dale Berra is a former American professional baseball player who was born on December 13, 1956, in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Dale is the son of former baseball player Yogi Berra and grew up playing baseball in Montclair, New Jersey. He attended Montclair High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. Dale's baseball career started in 1975 when he was picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the baseball draft. He made his major league debut the following year, playing a handful of games at second base.
Dale played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for eight seasons, from 1977 to 1984. He spent most of his career at shortstop, although he also played second base and third base. During his time with the Pirates, Dale played in two World Series, winning one in 1979. Throughout his career, Dale amassed 1,207 hits, 49 home runs, and 344 RBIs. He was known for his strong defensive skills and his ability to make contact at the plate.
After leaving the Pirates, Dale played for four different teams over the next six years. He played for the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, and Cleveland Indians. In 1989, he returned to the Pirates for one final season before retiring from professional baseball in 1990. After retiring, Dale worked as a coach for various teams and managed a few minor league teams. He also made headlines in 1987 for admitting to cocaine use during his career, a scandal that tarnished his reputation. Despite this, Dale remains a respected figure in the baseball community, known for his solid career and contributions to the game.
