Dan Quisenberry Autographs
Dan Quisenberry was a professional baseball pitcher who played for the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1980s. Born in California in 1953, Quisenberry attended Orange Coast College and later transferred to La Verne University where he played collegiate baseball. In 1975, he was drafted by the Royals in the 8th round of the amateur draft.
Quisenberry quickly rose through the minor leagues and made his major league debut in 1979. He became the Royals’ closer in 1980 and had a breakout season in 1982 when he led the American League in saves with 35. He went on to lead the league in saves for the next three years, solidifying his reputation as one of the best relief pitchers in baseball. Quisenberry was known for his signature submarine delivery style, which helped him to deceive batters and get outs. He was also a five-time All-Star and won the Rolaids Relief Man Award twice.
Despite his success, Quisenberry’s baseball career was shortened by injuries. He retired in 1990 with a career record of 56-46 and 244 saves, which at the time was the fourth-highest total in baseball history. He was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 1998 and remains one of the most beloved players in team history. After his retirement, Quisenberry worked as a motivational speaker and wrote poetry. He passed away in 1998 at the age of 45 from brain cancer.
