Dan Quisenberry was a professional baseball pitcher who played for the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1980s. Born in California in 1953, Quisenberry attended Orange Coast College and later transferred to La Verne University where he played collegiate baseball. Despite his success, Quisenberry’s baseball career was shortened by injuries. He retired in 1990 with a career record of 56-46 and 244 saves, which at the time was the fourth-highest total in baseball history. He was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 1998 and remains one of the most beloved players in team history. After his retirement, Quisenberry worked as a motivational speaker and wrote poetry.
