Daniel Schlereth is a former Major League Baseball player who played for the Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks. He was born on May 9, 1986, in Anchorage, Alaska. Schlereth’s baseball career began when he played college baseball at the University of Arizona. He was named a First-Team All-American in 2008 and was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2008 MLB draft.
Schlereth began his professional career playing in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ minor league system before being called up to the majors in 2009. After one season, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers, where he played the next three seasons. During his time with the Tigers, Schlereth became an integral part of their bullpen and pitched in several important games. In 2013, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates but was released before the start of the season. He later signed with the Baltimore Orioles but did not play a game for them.
