Danny Cox Autographs
Danny Cox is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who enjoyed a successful career during the 1980s and early 1990s. Born on September 21, 1959, in Northampton, England, Cox moved with his family to the United States as a child and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Memphis State University and was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the 1980 Major League Baseball draft.
Cox made his Major League debut with the Cardinals in 1983 and quickly established himself as a reliable starter. He finished his rookie season with a 10-9 record, a 3.54 ERA, and 151 strikeouts in 181 innings pitched. The following year, he helped lead the Cardinals to the World Series, where they faced off against the Kansas City Royals. Although the Cardinals lost in seven games, Cox pitched well in his two starts, allowing only two runs in 16 innings.
Cox spent six seasons with the Cardinals before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1989. He also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays before retiring in 1995. Throughout his career, he compiled a record of 97-96, a 3.64 ERA, and 1,053 strikeouts in 1,660 innings pitched. Cox is perhaps best remembered for his postseason success, as he went 3-1 with a 1.33 ERA in five career playoff appearances.
