Danny Goodwin was born on September 2, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, and he became a prominent baseball player in the United States during the 1970s. He played college baseball at Southern University where he quickly showed his talent. In the 1971 Major League Baseball draft, the Chicago White Sox selected him as their first pick. However, Danny did not sign a contract with them and went on to play for Southern University over the next two years. In the 1975 draft, the California Angels selected him as the first overall pick. After retiring from baseball, Danny worked with several organizations in different capacities within baseball. He became a scout for the San Diego Padres, and later on, he served as the interim head baseball coach at Auburn University in the late 1990s. He was also a special assistant to the Athletic Director at Oakland University between 2013 and 2017. Currently, Danny Goodwin is retired and enjoys spending time with his family.
