Born on June 4, 1974, in Jamestown, North Dakota, Darin Erstad is a retired American professional baseball player. He played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) as an outfielder and first baseman, spending most of his career with the Anaheim Angels. Erstad was drafted with the first overall pick by the Angels in the 1995 MLB draft, and he quickly made his way through the minor leagues to the majors, debuting in 1996. More about Darin Erstad

During his career, Erstad earned a reputation as a dynamic player who could hit for power and average, field excellently, and steal bases. He was named to the American League All-Star team twice, in 1998 and 2000, and he won Gold Glove awards for outfield and first base in 2000 and 2002, respectively. Erstad's contributions to the Angels were instrumental in the team's success during the early 2000s, including their 2002 World Series championship, in which he played a major role.

Erstad's career numbers include a batting average of .282, 124 home runs, 699 runs batted in, and 1,697 hits. He retired from professional baseball after the 2009 season, having played his final two years with the Houston Astros. Since then, Erstad has stayed involved in the game through coaching and executive positions. He served as the head coach of the University of Nebraska's baseball team from 2011 to 2019 before becoming an outfield and hitting coach for the Los Angeles Angels in 2020.
