Darnell McDonald is a former American professional baseball player who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for nine seasons. He was born on November 17, 1978, in Fort Collins, Colorado, and grew up in Denver. As a teenager, he excelled in multiple sports, including basketball, football, and baseball. After high school, McDonald was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 26th round of the 1997 MLB draft. However, he opted to attend Texas Christian University (TCU) instead. In college, he continued to impress on the baseball diamond, earning All-American honors in 1999 and 2000. In the 1999 summer, McDonald played with the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks in the Alaska Baseball League, where he was named the league's MVP.
