Darrell Wayne Evans, born on May 26, 1947, in Pasadena, California, is a former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues from 1969 to 1989. He started his career with the Atlanta Braves in 1969 and played for the team for nine years. Evans was primarily a third baseman during his early years, but he could also play first base and outfield positions. He was known for his power-hitting ability and had a career total of 414 home runs, which was the most by any third baseman in MLB history at the time of his retirement. More about Darrell Evans

After leaving the Braves, Evans also played for the San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, and Texas Rangers before retiring in 1989. In 1983, he helped lead the Detroit Tigers to the World Series championship, hitting a crucial home run in the series. He also won the Silver Slugger award during that same year. During his career, Evans was selected to play in three All-Star games and won two Gold Glove awards.
