Darryl Kile Autographs
Darryl Kile was a professional baseball player who played as a pitcher in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for twelve seasons. He was born on December 2, 1968, in Garden Grove, California. Kile's baseball journey started when he was a student at Norco High School in California, where he played for the school's baseball team. He went on to play college baseball at Chaffey College, where his excellent performance earned him a scholarship to attend California State University.
Kile's MLB career started in 1991 when he was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 30th round of the MLB Amateur Draft. He made his professional debut in 1991 and went on to pitch for the Astros for seven seasons. Kile was a reliable pitcher who recorded a 19-7 win-loss record in 1997, with a 2.57 ERA, 209 strikeouts, and three shutouts to his name. In 1998, Kile was traded to the Colorado Rockies, where he spent two seasons before signing with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2000.
In his first season with the Cardinals, Kile led the team to the playoffs for the first time in several years. He was instrumental in the team's progress to the National League Championship Series, where they faced off against the New York Mets. The Cardinals faced a 3-2 deficit in the series, and with their backs against the wall, Kile took the mound for the sixth game. He pitched a shutout game, earning him the first win of the series, and propelled the team to clinch a win in the seventh game and advance to the World Series. Kile's baseball career was cut short on June 22, 2002, when he passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 33. However, his contribution to the sport and the impact he had on the Cardinals and the MLB will forever be remembered.
