Bergman had a remarkable run with the Tigers, playing for ten seasons, making it to the World Series twice (1984, 1987), and being a crucial part of the team's success. In the 1984 World Series, he made headlines by hitting the game-winning home run in the deciding game. It was a testament to Bergman's resilience and grit as he hit just five home runs in the regular season. His performance in that series, including three RBI's, earned him the series MVP award. Bergman was a versatile player, playing first base, outfield, and third base, and his hitting and fielding ability made him a favorite of Tigers fans.

After leaving the Tigers in 1992, Bergman played one season for the San Francisco Giants before retiring. He finished his career with a .258 batting average, 44 home runs, and 287 RBI's. After retiring from baseball, he remained involved in the game, becoming a broadcaster, a coach, and a baseball ambassador in Japan. Dave Bergman passed away in 2015, but his legacy as a baseball player and a friend of the game remains intact. He will always be remembered as an integral part of the Detroit Tigers' championship team in 1984. Read even more about Dave Bergman at Wikipedia
