During his playing career, Bush was known for his ability to strike out batters and his strong pitching capabilities. He made his MLB debut in 2004 with the Milwaukee Brewers and went on to play for them for four seasons. Bush recorded his first win as a starting pitcher soon after his debut, and he finished his first season with a respectable 5-11 record. In 2006, he was named the Brewers' Pitcher of the Year after recording a 12-10 record with 3.76 ERA.

Bush was also known for his consistency on the mound. Despite playing for low-scoring teams, he always gave his best performance and played a crucial role in helping his teams stay competitive.
