Dave Fleming is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on November 7, 1969, in Jackson, Mississippi. He attended the University of Georgia, where he played college baseball and was named an All-American in 1990. Fleming spent five seasons with the Mariners, where he became known for his sinkerball and his ability to induce ground balls. He was particularly effective in 1992, when he went 17-10 with a 3.39 ERA and finished third in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. Fleming was also a member of the Mariners' 1995 team that won the American League West division and advanced to the American League Championship Series.

In addition to his time with the Mariners, Fleming also played for the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants during his eight-year Major League career. He retired in 1998 with a career record of 72-48 and a 4.26 ERA. Since retiring, Fleming has worked as a baseball analyst for ESPN and the San Francisco Giants' television broadcasts.
