Dave Goltz Autographs
Dave Goltz was a professional baseball player who played as a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Milwaukee Brewers. He was born on June 23, 1949, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Goltz was an all-around athlete in high school and was even offered a contract by the Minnesota Twins as a catcher. However, he decided to attend college and play baseball at Mankato State University. After impressing scouts with his pitching skills, he was drafted by the Twins in the fifth round of the 1971 Major League Baseball Draft.
Goltz’s major league debut came in 1972, and he went on to spend ten seasons in the big leagues. His best years were with the Minnesota Twins, where he spent seven seasons as their starting pitcher from 1972-1979. During his time with the Twins, he became a two-time All-Star and had a career record of 96-79 with an ERA of 3.48. He was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1980, where he spent four seasons and helped the team win the World Series in 1981. He finished his career with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1983 after pitching for fourteen seasons in the major leagues.
Throughout his career, Goltz was known for his impressive fastball and his ability to keep hitters off balance with his off-speed pitches. He was also recognized for his strong work ethic and leadership on and off the field. After retiring from baseball, Goltz went on to work in insurance and real estate. He was inducted into the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame in 2005, forever cementing his legacy in Minnesota sports history.
