Dave Hansen was born on November 24, 1968, in Long Beach, California. He was a standout baseball player at Rowland High School, where he earned multiple accolades for his skills as a third baseman. Hansen continued his baseball career at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played for the Bruins for three seasons before being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd round of the 1986 MLB Draft.
Hansen made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 1990 and spent 11 seasons with the team. He was primarily used as a pinch-hitter, and he was known for his ability to come off the bench and deliver a clutch hit. During his time with the Dodgers, Hansen was a fan favorite, and he played an important role in the team's success in the 1990s. In 1995, he helped the Dodgers reach the playoffs with a crucial pinch-hit home run in the final game of the regular season.
After leaving the Dodgers, Hansen played for several other teams, including the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants. He retired from baseball in 2005 with a career batting average of .260 and 91 home runs. Hansen later became a coach and manager in the minor leagues, and he currently serves as the hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Throughout his baseball career, Hansen was known for his clutch hitting and his ability to come off the bench and deliver in crucial moments, making him a beloved figure among fans and teammates alike.
