Dave Nelson was a former professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted in the third round by the Cleveland Indians in 1964 but was traded to the Washington Senators in 1969. He made his debut with the Senators that year and played for seven seasons with the team. During his time with the team, he became known for his speed, stealing 51 bases in 1970, and became the team’s leader in stolen bases for four consecutive years. More about Dave Nelson

After his time with the Senators, Nelson joined the Texas Rangers, where he played for two seasons before being traded to the Kansas City Royals. He played with the Royals until 1977 and retired from baseball shortly after. Nelson’s baseball career was not limited to his playing days. He also went on to coach and manage in the MLB, holding positions with the Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, and more.
