Parker's baseball career began in the late 1970s when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 1970 MLB draft. Parker quickly rose through the minors and made his Major League debut in 1973. He quickly established himself as a star player, and in 1978 he won the National League MVP award after batting .334 with 30 home runs and 117 RBIs. Parker continued to play at a high level throughout the 1980s, earning accolades and helping his teams reach the postseason multiple times.

In addition to his on-field success, Parker also overcame several off-field obstacles during his career. He struggled with drug addiction in the 1980s, but was able to overcome it and return to the game he loved. Parker retired in 1991 with a career batting average of .290, 339 home runs, and 1493 RBIs. Today, he is considered one of the most talented and versatile players in baseball history. Read even more about Dave Parker at Wikipedia
