Davey Lopes is a retired American professional baseball player and coach. He was born on May 3, 1945, in East Providence, Rhode Island. In his 16-year career from 1972 to 1987, Lopes played for four different teams in Major League Baseball (MLB), including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, and Oakland Athletics. Lopes was known for his exceptional speed and agility on the field. He was a four-time All-Star and a stolen base king, leading the National League in stolen bases in four different seasons. In 1975, he set the single-season record for the most stolen bases by a second baseman with 77.
