Del Wilber was a baseball player born on June 24, 1919, in Pueblo, Colorado. He was a catcher and played a significant role in the success of many major league baseball teams. During his career, Wilber played for several other teams, including the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Athletics, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He is perhaps best remembered for his time with the Cardinals, where he played from 1951-1953. In 1952, he hit a career-high .296 and hit seven home runs in 94 games. Overall, Wilber played in 682 career games and hit .222 with 28 home runs and 211 RBIs.

Aside from his playing career, Del Wilber was also known for his work as a coach and manager. After his playing days were over, he served as a coach for the Milwaukee Braves and later managed the Houston Colt .45s (now the Houston Astros) for two seasons.
