Dick Bokelmann Autographs
Dick Bokelmann was a former American professional baseball player who was born on October 1, 1922, in Hopkins, Missouri. Playing as a second baseman, Bokelmann began his professional career in 1946 with the Ogden Reds in the Pioneer League. In 1947, he played for the Quincy Gems in the Illinois–Indiana–Iowa League, where he hit an impressive .341 in 125 games. His performance earned him a spot in the All-Star game and led him to a promotion to the Birmingham Barons in the Southern Association in 1948.
Bokelmann played for one season with the Barons, hitting .237 in 121 games as the team's regular second baseman. He returned to the minor leagues for the next few seasons, playing for various teams like the Columbia Reds, Charleston Rebels, and Tulsa Oilers. In 1952, he then played for the Havana Sugar Kings in the International League, where he hit a career-high .301 in 141 games. However, his performance was not enough to earn him a spot on any major league team. He retired from professional baseball in 1955 after playing for the Fresno Cardinals in the California League.
Bokelmann played professional baseball for a total of nine seasons, hitting .268 in 1,127 games. He recorded 978 hits, 47 home runs, and 464 RBI. His performances in the minor leagues were remarkable, but it was his consistency that distinguished him. He was an outstanding worker, a good teammate, and a beloved player wherever he went. Despite not making it to the Major League, Bokelmann's passion for baseball never waned. Dick Bokelmann passed away at the age of 94 on November 8, 2016, but he will be remembered as a great ballplayer and a respected member of the baseball community.
