Dick Pole was a well-known name in the world of baseball for many years during the 1970s and 80s. Born on October 15, 1950, in Portland, Oregon, Pole began playing baseball in high school, where he started showing his skills as a pitcher. He later attended the University of Portland, where he continued to play and further developed his skills on the field. In 1970, he joined the professional league as a pitcher for the Seattle Pilots, a team that would later become the Milwaukee Brewers.
Over the years, Pole played for a number of different teams, including the Red Sox, Mariners, Phillies, and Cubs. One of his strongest seasons was in 1977 when he played for the Red Sox and recorded a 10-6 record with six saves and an ERA of 3.55. Throughout his career, Pole was known for his strong fastball and excellent control on the mound. He also had a reputation for being a reliable and consistent pitcher who could be counted on to deliver quality performances when needed.
After retiring from his playing career, Pole went on to become a pitching coach for several different teams, including the Mariners, Phillies, and Brewers. He continued to dedicate himself to the sport and was well-respected by many players and coaches in the industry. Even after retiring from coaching, Pole remained involved in the sport as an advisor and mentor to young players, showing that his love for baseball was always at the forefront of everything he did.
