Dick Radatz was an American professional baseball player who was born on April 2, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. He was nicknamed "The Monster" for his imposing physical stature and dominant performances on the mound. Radatz began his career in 1962 with the Boston Red Sox, where he quickly established himself as one of the dominant relievers in the league. During his rookie year, he set a record for relief pitchers by striking out 162 batters and recording 24 saves. He continued to excel over the next few seasons, earning three consecutive All-Star selections from 1963 to 1965.
