Dick Tracewski Autographs
Dick Tracewski was a former professional baseball player and coach of Polish descent, born on February 3, 1935. He played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) as a second baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, and California Angels. Tracewski made his professional debut in 1962 with the Dodgers and helped them win the National League pennant that year. In 1963, he played a crucial role in the Dodgers’ World Series championship title, batting .286 in seven games. He then joined the Tigers and played for them for six seasons, earning a reputation as a reliable infielder and a skilled bunter.
Following his playing career, Dick Tracewski became a coach for several teams, including the Tigers, Houston Astros, Montreal Expos, and San Diego Padres. During his tenure as a coach, Tracewski was known for his strong work ethic, organizational skills, and keen eye for talent. He was also a patient teacher, and players often sought his advice and guidance. Some of the notable players he helped develop include Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and Steve Finley.
Tracewski remained involved in baseball even after retiring from coaching. He served as a consultant for the Padres and later volunteered as a scout for the Houston Astros. Tracewski passed away on March 29, 2021, at the age of 86. His contributions to the sport of baseball, both as a player and a coach, will always be remembered and appreciated by fans and fellow baseball enthusiasts alike.
