Don Cooper is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on January 15, 1957, in New York. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the 17th round of the 1978 Major League Baseball draft, and he quickly rose through the ranks of the minor leagues. In 1981, he made his major league debut with the Yankees at the age of 24. In his career, Cooper pitched for the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Atlanta Braves. More about Don Cooper

Cooper's best season as a player came in 1987 when he went 10-6 with the Toronto Blue Jays. He retired as a player in 1991, and he began coaching in the minor leagues with the New York Yankees organization. After a few years, he was hired by the Chicago White Sox as their minor league pitching coordinator.

In 2002, Cooper was promoted to the pitching coach for the Chicago White Sox, where he remained until 2019. During his time as pitching coach, the White Sox won the World Series in 2005, and Cooper was instrumental in developing several key pitchers, including Mark Buehrle, Chris Sale, and Jose Quintana.
