Don Drysdale was a professional baseball player who played for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers from 1956 to 1969. He was born on July 23, 1936, in Van Nuys, California, and started his professional baseball career in the minor leagues for the Bakersfield Indians in 1954. Drysdale was a highly successful pitcher during his time in the major leagues. He was known for his strong arm and his ability to deliver fastballs at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. He won 209 games in his career and was a six-time All-Star. In 1962, he won the National League Cy Young Award after finishing the season with a league-leading 25 wins and a 2.63 ERA. He was also a part of four World Series championship teams with the Dodgers, in 1959, 1963, 1965, and 1966.

Off the field, Drysdale was known for his wit and his love of golf. He was also a broadcaster, serving as a commentator for several baseball teams after his retirement from baseball in 1969. However, Drysdale is primarily remembered for his outstanding baseball career and his contributions to the Dodgers during one of the most successful periods in their history.
