Doug Brocail Autographs
Doug Brocail is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for six different teams over his career which spanned 15 seasons. Brocail was born on May 16, 1967, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, and was drafted straight out of high school by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 1986 MLB draft. Brocail made his MLB debut on August 7, 1992, with the Padres, and would go on to pitch for the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and the Baltimore Orioles before retiring in 2009.
Brocail is known for his longevity in the game and his consistent performance as a middle reliever. He was a reliable player who recorded 40 wins, 53 losses, and 77 saves throughout his career. Brocail's finest moment came in 2000 while pitching for the Astros when he won the Darryl Kile Good Guy Award, which is awarded annually to the Astros player who best exemplifies Kile's traits of professionalism and humanitarianism.
After retiring from his playing career, Brocail went on to become a pitching coach for the Houston Astros and was named the team's interim pitching coach in 2016. Under his guidance, the Astros won their first-ever World Series title in 2017. Following his success with the Astros, Brocail became the pitching coach for the Baltimore Orioles in 2019, where he is still currently employed. Brocail has left a lasting impact on the game of baseball and continues to help guide the next generation of pitchers as a coach.
