Doug Dascenzo Autographs
Doug Dascenzo was born on June 30th, 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his baseball career at the age of six, playing in the local baseball leagues. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University, where he played center field for the Oklahoma State Cowboys baseball team. During his college career, he batted .349 and was named an All-American in 1985. Dascenzo was then drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the eighth round of the 1985 Major League Baseball draft.
Dascenzo started his professional career with the Cubs' minor league team, the Peoria Chiefs. He was called up to the major league team in 1988 and made his debut against the Montreal Expos. Over the course of his career, Dascenzo played for five different teams, including the Cubs, the Texas Rangers, and the San Diego Padres. Throughout his career, Dascenzo was known for his speedy base-running and his ability to play all three outfield positions.
After his retirement from baseball in 1996, Dascenzo went on to coach and manage in the minor leagues. He spent over a decade in the Chicago Cubs organization, serving as a roving minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator, as well as the manager of the Tennessee Smokies. In 2013, Dascenzo was hired by the Atlanta Braves as their third base coach. He held that position for three seasons before returning to the Cubs in 2017 as their first base coach.
