After high school, Glanville attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he continued to pursue his passion for baseball. He played center field for the Quakers and quickly established himself as one of the top players in the Ivy League. In 1991, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft. Glanville made his MLB debut in 1996 and played for the Cubs until 1997 when he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Phillies until 2002 before moving on to play for the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox in the later years of his career. Glanville was known for his speed, strong arm, and excellent defensive play in the outfield, and he finished his career with a batting average of .277, 1,100 hits, and 167 stolen bases.

Outside of baseball, Glanville is known for his philanthropic work, including his efforts to promote education and equality. He has written several articles and essays on racism and discrimination, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of society. After retiring from baseball, he pursued a career in writing and journalism, contributing regularly to ESPN and The New York Times.
