Doug Jones Autographs
Doug Jones is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who had a successful career spanning 16 seasons. Born on June 24, 1957, in Covina, California, Jones attended college at Butler Community College in Kansas before being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifth round of the 1978 MLB draft. He made his major league debut with the Brewers in 1982 and went on to play for several teams, including the Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, and Oakland Athletics.
Jones is best known for his time with the Cleveland Indians, where he had his most successful seasons. He was the team's closer from 1988 to 1990, and during that time, he led the American League in saves for two consecutive years. In 1988, he had 37 saves and a 2.27 earned run average (ERA), and in 1989, he had 32 saves and a 1.85 ERA. Jones was named to three All-Star teams during his career and finished with a career ERA of 3.30 and 303 saves.
Jones retired from baseball in 2000 and was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame in 2019. He currently works as a pitching coach in the Cleveland Indians organization. Jones is remembered as one of the most consistent and reliable closers of his era and is highly regarded by fans and fellow players alike.
