Doug Sisk was a right-handed relief pitcher who played for the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles during his baseball career in the 1980s. Born on September 26, 1957, in Renton, Washington, Sisk began his professional baseball career in 1978 when he was drafted by the Mets. Sisk made his Major League debut on April 10, 1982, against the Philadelphia Phillies. His pitch speed and accuracy impressed the Mets' management, and he soon became a regular in the team's bullpen. Sisk was known for his sinkerball pitch, which he used to induce ground ball outs. He set a Mets' record for most appearances in a single season in 1984, appearing in 77 games. Overall, Sisk played 319 games for the Mets, recording 20 saves and a 3.12 ERA.

In 1987, Sisk was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, where he played for two seasons before retiring from baseball in 1989. Despite a brief baseball career, Doug Sisk remains a popular figure amongst Mets' fans, who remember him fondly for his crucial role in the team's success during the 1980s.
