Duke Snider Autographs
Edwin Donald Snider, popularly known as Duke Snider, was a Hall of Fame centerfielder who enjoyed a successful baseball career spanning 18 years. Born on September 19, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, Snider started his professional career with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, where he played until 1962. During his time with the Dodgers, he helped his team win two National League pennants and one World Series during their "Boys of Summer" era.
Snider was a talented hitter, with a career batting average of .295, 2,116 hits, 407 home runs, and 1,333 runs batted in (RBI). He was an eight-time All-Star and finished in the top-ten vote-getters for National League MVP voting six times. Snider's accomplishments helped him cement his place in baseball history, and in 1980, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also holds a place in Dodgers history, trailing only Jackie Robinson in career home runs and RBI for the franchise.
After his retirement, Snider continued to contribute to the sport he loved. He worked as a broadcaster and a hitting instructor, and even managed several minor league teams. Snider remained a beloved figure in the baseball community, and his contributions to the Dodgers and baseball as a whole will always be remembered. Duke Snider passed away on February 27, 2011, at the age of 84, leaving behind an enduring legacy and an indelible mark on the game of baseball.
