Dusty Rhodes Autographs
Dusty Rhodes was born on June 29, 1927, in Mathews, Alabama. He grew up as a talented athlete and played baseball, football, and basketball in high school. After graduating, Rhodes attended the University of Alabama and played baseball for the team. In 1948, he signed as an outfielder with the Boston Red Sox and began his professional baseball career.
Rhodes played for various teams in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 1952 with the New York Giants. He played for the Giants for six seasons and was a key player during their 1954 World Series championship run. In Game 1 of the series, Rhodes hit a pinch-hit, game-winning home run in the 10th inning. He finished the series with a .667 batting average.
After his time with the Giants, Rhodes played for several other teams, including the Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles. He retired in 1963 with a .253 career batting average, 54 home runs, and 234 RBIs. Despite a successful baseball career, Rhodes is also known for his career in professional wrestling, where he became a three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
