Dwight Evans is a former professional baseball player who was born on November 3, 1951, in Santa Monica, California. He was known for his impressive defensive skills, powerful throwing arm, and his ability to hit home runs consistently. Evans began his baseball career as a right fielder for the Boston Red Sox in 1972, where he played for 19 seasons until he retired in 1991.
Throughout his career, Evans was a three-time All-Star, won eight Gold Glove awards for his exceptional fielding skills, and won a Silver Slugger award for his offensive performance in 1981. He was also a key player in the Red Sox's 1975 World Series team and helped lead the team to the World Series again in 1986. Evans's outstanding career earned him a place in the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and the team retired his jersey number 24 in 2000.
