Dylan Carlson was born on October 23, 1998, in Elk Grove, California. He is an American baseball player who currently plays as an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Carlson was selected by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft, with the 33rd overall pick.
During his high school career at Elk Grove High School, Carlson was a two-sport athlete, participating in both baseball and basketball. In baseball, he made a name for himself as an excellent hitter and outfielder, earning him All-American honors in his senior year. After graduation, Carlson committed to play college baseball at the University of California, Irvine. However, he decided to forego his college commitment when he was drafted by the Cardinals in 2016.
Carlson’s professional career began in 2016 when he debuted with the Gulf Coast League Cardinals. He spent the next few years working his way up the minors, playing for several of the Cardinals’ farm teams. During this time, he earned several awards and accolades, including being named to the All-Star Futures Game in 2019. Carlson made his MLB debut in 2020 and quickly proved himself to be a valuable asset to the Cardinals' lineup. He finished the 2020 season with an impressive stat line, hitting .200 with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs in just 35 games. With his dynamic playing style and raw talent, Dylan Carlson is expected to have a bright future in the world of baseball.
